My name is Darryl, and I am an Australian living in Thailand as a retired expat.
One of my many dreams at retirement, was to put a small workshop together and grow my passion in making things. All sorts of things. Whether made of wood, steel, or a combination, I wanted to fulfill a passion of self satisfaction of doing something with my hands.
It also keep me out of my wife's hair!
After a couple of false starts, I have started to make this dream come true.
A significant problem has arisen in my quest.
Thailand, although a great place to live, doesn't easily allow for a foreigner to purchase the tools or raw materials needed. It is a combination of communication, local knowledge and the high costs associated in buying quality tools.
Through this blog, I want to pass along what I have learned. Not only the projects I will build, but the process, searching and tricks I have gathered.
I hope you find this information helpful, and any suggestions or your own knowledge and tips are most welcome.
Let's make this a community resource available to all.
Just a late thought.....
I'm not a journalist or writing by nay means. I bash words together that make sense to me. If you find any major errors, please contact me by the comments and I will fix. If they are only small, let leave it be and concentrate on the building.
Thanks.
Rating System:
I will be trying to implement a rating system to be used to show at a glace the overall impression of a tool or project. It will display small "Lazy Gekko" images from 1 to 5 with half increments.
Why Gekko?
This blog, as all my blogs are part of the Lazy Gekko Group. A start-up group of entities ranging from blogs to Thai Language learning. Bricks and mortar and in the cloud based "things". More on this as it evolves.
